The season was going well for both Caty and Lizzie’s teams and both teams were top contenders for the cup as it stood. Lizzie had done her best not to miss any of Caty’s matches if she could help it and she was really proud of her girlfriend. Their team was doing so well this year.
But the match of matches for them was coming up. Puddlemere versus Holyhead. And Lizzie knew well how competitive both of them could be.
So as she set the table for dinner…and then brought dinner over, she placed a kiss to Caty’s cheek before they sat down to eat.
”You looking forward to next week?” she asked playfully as she poked at her food.

Things were slowly getting back to normal. Well, as normal as it could be with two professional Quidditch players. Their schedules were still misaligned, but they both had managed to get to a few of each other’s games. Caty was insanely proud of Liz and happy that she had found such close friends amongst her teammates.
But their match was fast approaching and while this wasn’t the first time she’s played against her girlfriend, it was different this time around. They weren’t playing some school match. This was the big leagues. But honestly? That didn’t change a thing. They just didn’t let work get in the way of their relationship.
Caty leaned into the kiss, smiling up at Liz before digging into her food. She had just taken a bite when she asked if she was looking forward to the match. Cat chewed and swallowed, taking a quick drink before grinning at her girl. “Oh, definitely. All those reporters speculating that we’re gonna throw the game just make me laugh. It’d be nice to prove to them just how wrong they are.”

Liz grinned as her girlfriend spoke. She had a point. Reporters were weird. More than a couple times, it had been insinuated that she herself was having an affair with her beater, Rayna. Thankfully, Caty knew better and knew that she and Rayna were really good friends. There was no one else outside of Caty that had Lizzie’s affection.
”Good luck,” she teased. ”We’ve been training so hard lately. We’re definitely ready.”
Lizzie shot her girlfriend a wink and took another bite.
”We gotta promise that we’re aren’t going to get too competitive over this though. Yeah?”

It’s not like she didn’t understand their concerns. Reporters would do anything for a juicy story, like plant the seeds of infidelity and let the rumors grow, but Caty could see why they thought Lizzie or herself wouldn’t play as hard as they normally do because of their relationship. But Caty also knew that was complete and utter crap. She couldn’t wait to prove them wrong.
She laughed lightheartedly as Liz wished her luck. “Yeah, well you, too. I think you’ll be surprised at how strong our offense is.” Anya worked them hard, but Caty wouldn’t have it any other way.
A soft smile touched her lips at Lizzie’s promise. She reached out and grabbed her hand in hers and squeezed. “Of course, babe. Quidditch isn’t gonna tear us apart.”

Yeah well you too.
Lizzie felt her nose scrunch as she smiled over her girlfriend sassing her right back. She quite enjoyed how they could tease each other and both of them knew wholeheartedly that they were still very much proud of the other. As hard as Becky worked them and trained them, Liz had no doubt that Anya trained hers just as hard. Though as Caty smiled and reached her hand out, Lizzie took it, watching her carefully and lovingly.
Of course quidditch wouldn't tear them apart. She just needed to make sure. She needed it said and out there. Affirmation, if one will.
"I love you," she said softly, just reminding the woman across from her.
