I want you by my side so that I never feel alone again

Christmas Eve had been a lot of fun. Matty had never experienced what a large family feels like and being with the Parks for a night really gave him a good picture. He liked it a lot. There was so much love in a family like that and he felt blessed to be a part of it. He’d never change his childhood, but it did give him an idea of what kind of family he wanted. They already had a big family with all their plants and animals, but what Matty was searching for was the human aspect. Of course, they were still newlyweds and just starting their adult life, but he was thinking about their future. His mother would like it to happen now, and he wouldn’t be upset if it did, but he was patient. Whatever Poppy wanted was what mattered most to him.[break][break]
Matteo woke to rays of sunlight filtering into the bedroom and a dog licking his face. “Gross, Rocco,” he laughed, shoving his shepard away as he squinted in the light. He rubbed his eyes and yawned before checking the time. It wasn’t too early and it was Christmas morning. His heart raced as the excitement bubbled up inside him. It was Christmas morning. “Babe,” he mumbled, turning to wrap his arm around her and cuddle in close. Matty kissed her shoulder and gave her a little shake. “Babe, Merry Christmas.” He held her tight against his bare chest and buried his face into her hair. He was perfectly content just snuggling for a bit until she woke up fully. His fingers brushed along her soft skin as he traced circles on her arm. Rocco started to whine after a moment. Matty tried to ignore it, but the dog started digging at his feet. “Okay, okay! I’ll take you guys out.”[break][break]
He kissed Poppy’s shoulder one last time before rolling out of bed. After stretching a bit, he threw on some clothes and ushered Rocco and Luna out of their bedroom. Matty opened the door to let them out and went back to the kitchen to start a pot of coffee. They had to have their morning coffee. He could see the dogs playing with the crups from the sink. Matteo blinked the last of the sleepiness out of his eyes as he watched them, his hands splayed out on the sink. When he could hear the coffee finished brewing, he poured Poppy and himself a couple mugs. Matty preferred his coffee black, but he made up Poppy’s as she liked it. With his mug in his hand, he walked back outside and sipped on his coffee. The animals were still playing, but after a bit he called them back inside. The dogs ran to their food and water bowls while Matty went into the living room with his drink and started a fire. He sunk into the cushions and continued to sip on his coffee while he watched the flames flicker. Once Poppy was up, he’d make breakfast.
