Leonardo "Leo" Nikos
Basics;;
FULL NAME: Leonardo Nikos. He was not given a middle name
NICKNAME(S): Leo
AGE/D.O.B.: 14, 28/07/1997
Year: 4th Year
HOUSE: Slytherin
IDEOLOGY: He doesn’t care. He doesn’t read the daily prophet, he skips over the political stories in the Quibbler, and changes the subject when current events pop up in conversation. Unless something is directly affecting him, he chooses to remain uninformed and neutral. If someone jabs at him for his half-blood status he will insult them back, but in a sense that he is reciprocating an insult, rather than blood status. The same mindset is how Leo approaches the rising anti-creature rhetoric. Some may say it’s rather cowardice, Leo suggests it’s simply survival.

PATRONUS:
Fox – Leo has never felt like he belonged, always felt distrusted. Similar to the fox, he has a gentle heart but is deemed a pest by those around him, never belonging to any group.
His best childhood memory was of his sister Phoebe, he had been very young and didn’t remember the details too well, but he doesn’t really have many good memories to choose from. What he did know was she had been a lot of fun. He remembered her giving him all her allowance and taking him around the Santa Monica Pier, playing games and eating street foods. He remembers the bright lights and laughter, the smell of fried dough and sea air, he remembers just being a kid – and that’s enough for him.
BOGGART:
His stepmother Chloe turning into bird-like creature in rage was the most horrifying thing he had ever witnessed. He knew he was hated, but he still lived with their family his whole life. He knows he isn’t technically a part of the family; he understands that she isn’t his mom, but she was all he had. So, one day when he was very little and had fallen and scraped his knee, he ran to her; in seeking motherly comfort he wrapped his little arms around her leg. He had unfortunately caught her on a bad day. The unwanted touch from an unwanted child was the last straw, and the Veela snapped, and her bird-like form came out, traumatizing Leo.
MIRROR OF ERISED:
Leo had never had a real family, and has only ever loved his sister, even if that relationship is complicated. So, one day, it’s his dream to have a big loving family of his own. He wants to treat his children with loads of love and respect, so that they won’t have to endure the treatment he had. He wants to be a better father than Dimitrios ever was.

HISTORY:
Ilaria Rossi, an 18-year-old Italian immigrant with a dream and the clothes on her back came to the United States to make something of herself. She wanted to be an artist, she had a knack for painting and wanted to take that skill and run with it. But she knew she couldn’t do much without money. So, she applied to as many jobs as possible, day after day and week after week. Her minimal English was making her hunt quite difficult, and while she sold her paintings to get by, without a steady job she knew she wouldn’t be able to continue for much longer. So, when a wealthy model and her husband who spoke a bit of Italian needed a nanny for their newborn she was overjoyed for the perfect opportunity.
She worked for the Nikos’ for 2 years, she had just saved enough to pay for art school tuition, and she was overjoyed. Unfortunately, this came to a swift end when she found her employer making advances on her. While she was uncomfortable and wished for it to not have happened at all, she couldn’t reject him in fear for her job. In time, it came out that she was pregnant with Dimitrios’ second baby. After the downfall of this young family, Ilaria passed away at 19, in childbirth, 3 weeks after her birthday. The baby’s older half-sister Phoebe was ultimately the one who named him, as neither Chloe nor Dimitrios wanted the constant reminder of their failed marriage that Leo had unfortunately become.
By the time the two were showing signs of magical abilities, Dimitrios decided that they needed to move back to Scotland so they could enroll Phoebe in Hogwarts like he had been. Chloe disagreed. Ultimately, only Phoebe, Leo, and their father moved to Scotland, her mother choosing to stay behind so as not to “give up her whole life for a cheat and a child that isn’t even hers.” Dimitrios shut down, and Phoebe did her best to look out for her brother, needing to grow up quickly so that he wouldn’t have to. But there were of course the things she couldn’t shield him from, like the disgust in his father’s eyes every time he saw him, the pure hatred in Chloe’s, and the exclusion he felt constantly of their family dynamic. This lovely character is being played by winter! winter has been roleplaying for 10 years, and play Astrid Seabrook, Theodora Strode, Phoebe Nikos on this site. winter lives in the Atlantic daylight time zone, and you can reach them by PM or Discord!
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Adora slumped back in her chair, slamming her palms against the dark wood table, landing on either side of her cauldron. A cauldron that was intended to contain the last potion she needed to know for the upcoming O.W.L.S. She shifted her weight quickly, lunging forward to bury her head in her hands – she took a small sense of satisfaction in how she loudly propped her elbows on the table, relishing in the shred of catharsis. She peeked through her fingers, parting them to reveal her failed potion. She groaned loudly to only herself, quickly snapping her fingers closed once more, removing the offending object from her view.
Professor Avery was kind enough to give Adora this extra time after classes to practice her Veritaserum antidote, unfortunately it hadn’t proved itself to be particularly useful so far. She wasn’t sure how, but she was consistently ending up with the very potion she was trying to counter. What frustrated her most was that Veritaserum was immensely harder to create than its antidote; Adora found herself accidentally creating one of the most advanced potions in the wizarding world. She groaned again. Louder this time. She knew that the objective simplicity of the antidote meant it was to be graded more harshly than its complex counterpart. She mused over her failed attempts as she chewed on the inside of her lip. Unsure of how long she remained that way, until she was pulled from her focus by the taste of blood and the voice of a girl.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t realize anyone was in here.” Dark brown eyes shot up, locking onto the deep blues of the young Hufflepuff girl standing before her. Adora blinked. Her hands remained open over her cauldron, shaped as though she had been reading an invisible book. “Would you like some monkey bread?”
Taken aback, Adora dropped her arms to her lap. She blinked once more, finally noticing the box in the girl’s hands. Her mouth twitched in a polite yet uncomfortable smile, tightly stretching across her face as she considered her choice of words carefully in this peculiar turn of events. Finally, Adora opened her mouth, speaking slowly: “You turned a monkey... into bread?”
