Emilia Montes Emilia Montes is and has always been Olivia's best friend. More than a friend, Olivia considers Emilia to be a sister. The two have been inseparable since their first day at Hogwarts. In Olivia's world, Emilia comes first. Many nights have been spent lounging in their dorm with face masks, gossiping and talking about boys until the wee hours of the morning. Emilia is one of the only people that have seen Liv ugly cry. They've been together through it all and nothing will break their bond.

THE STORY OF OLIVIA MORETTI
CHAPTER ONE Olivia Pilar Moretti was born on a bright and warm summer afternoon in the great city of Rome, Italy. Her mother, Amara, gave birth to her in the comfort of their mansion nestled in the expansive hills surrounding the city with the best care money could provide. Riccardo and Amara were in love with their baby girl from the start, showering her with love and affection. Coming from old money, the Moretti’s were able to provide everything Olivia ever wanted or needed. She showed signs of magical abilities at a very young age, younger than most witches and wizards ever do. When she was merely two, she shattered her nanny’s glasses during a temper tantrum after her brother, Michael, was born. Thankfully the witch survived the encounter with no more than a few cuts. By the time she was four, she showed great promise on a broomstick, zipping around the mansion on her toy broom. When she was five, her father started to teach her to hone her magic and use it for dueling. She learned to be quick on her feet, analyze her opponent, and honed her reflexes. Olivia loved these lessons with her father, bringing her closer and closer to him as the years went on.
Her mother taught her the importance of blood-purity and the need to marry well. With her, she learned of etiquette, dancing, and courting as was common for pureblood witches from old families like Olivia. While she loved her mother dearly, Liv much preferred the lessons with her father. When it became clear that Liv was never going to be the perfect pureblood princess, Amara stepped back from their lessons and allowed her husband to take over full-time. Ric focused on Olivia while Amara focused on Michael who, in comparison, was much more reserved than his older sister.
Life in Italy was good, so good that Olivia never wanted to leave. Unfortunately for her, Riccardo took a job with the British Ministry of Magic and relocated the family to England just a year before she’d start at Beauxbatons. Instead of receiving an invitation to her father’s alma mater, she received a letter that summer on her eleventh birthday. She’d be attending Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. In a new country, in a new London mansion, Olivia never felt more alone. All her friends had been in Italy, her entire life. Now, they were starting anew and the young witch was terrified. She tried to fight back, to tell her parents she wouldn’t be attending and tried every method under the sun to get them to agree. In the end, she didn’t win and soon they were headed to Diagon Alley to shop for school supplies.
It was there Olivia met her first friend - a white and gray maine coon perched in the window of a shop. It didn’t take a lot of convincing for her parents to buy the cat and, before long, Liv was carrying the kitten she named Luna. Luna would become a great friend and confidant for the witch as the years went on. Now with a companion, Olivia felt a little better about starting at Hogwarts. The new robes, supplies, and presents her parents bought her also helped.
She stopped complaining about their new start, spending time with Luna in her room and flying on her brand new broomstick in the backyard for the rest of the summer. When September came around, the Moretti’s took Liv to Kings Cross. Following the lead of other witches and wizards, the family ran through the brick wall between platforms 9 and 10 to arrive at the Hogwarts Express. Amara had fussed over her appearance while Ric clasped her on the shoulder, telling her how proud he was of her. Liv didn’t cry, but she wanted to. She wanted to beg them to take her home, to take her to Beauxbatons where all her friends will be spending their school years. Instead, the eleven year old swallowed these feelings, grabbed her cat, and entered the train.
A little scared and uncharacteristically timid, Olivia found an empty compartment at the end of the train. Happy for some solitude, she set herself down on the cushions, her kitten in her lap and she watched out the window as her parents and brother waved goodbye. Just as the train was leaving, the compartment door opened and there stood one of the most beautiful girls Olivia has ever seen. Gorgeous brunette locks that cascaded down her shoulders, bright eyes that seemed to sparkle in the light, and a thick Spanish accent asking if this compartment was free. A little star-struck, she nodded and the girl entered with her belongings. That would be the moment that would forever change Olivia Moretti’s life.
The girl’s name was Emilia Montes and she was a first year like her. The girl seemed reserved, a little nervous and perhaps a little sad. Olivia felt for the girl and offered for her to play with Luna. Tentatively, the girl agreed and before long they were chatting. When they arrived at Hogwarts, the girls continued to chat as they exited the train. They sat together on the boat gliding across the lake toward the castle. Liv remembers seeing the castle for the first time, that feeling of awe washing over her as she took in the expansive buildings outlined in the light of a full moon. Before long, they were walking up several staircases until they were stopped by a severe looking woman just outside huge oak doors. “First years,” the woman had said with clipped tones before she launched into a speech about the different houses of Hogwarts and how your house will be family during their years here. Once her speech had concluded, the doors to the Great Hall opened and they were ushered inside.
Olivia was feeling nervous, terrified of what was going to happen next. She knew that there was some Sorting Ceremony, but no one cared to explain exactly what that entailed. If it was a duel, she’d be prepared. If it was something else, well… she wasn’t sure how to tackle that. One by one, students were called to the front where a rickety old hat was placed on their heads and one by one the hat called out the name of a house. They got to the ‘M’s and Olivia started to feel the trepidation well up inside her. Miller, Milton, Montes… Olivia watched as her new friend slowly walked up to the stool. When the hat touched her head, it was silent for a few moments before the hat called out “SLYTHERIN!” Liv clapped for the witch as she ran off to the table on the far side of the room. “Moretti!” She swallowed, feeling acutely nervous as she made her way to the stool. Olivia sat down and felt the hat be placed on her head. “Hmmm….” it said in her mind. “Yes… plenty of talent there, yes… a hunger to be better… thirst for knowledge… yes, I think you’ll do great in… SLYTHERIN!” Olivia let out the breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding, a wide grin cracking along her face as she rushed over to Emilia and took a seat beside her. And for the first time since they moved, Liv was no longer afraid of this new life. As she looked around at the smiling faces of her peers and housemates, she realized she may just find a home here after all.
CHAPTER TWO Her first year at Hogwarts went by quicker than she imagined. Emilia became her best friend. The two were basically inseparable by the end of the first week of classes. Both girls had been torn from their homes, relocated in an unknown land, and forced to attend a different school than they originally intended to. The girls bonded over their similarities, and leaned on each other for their differences. Emilia, fresh from the heartbreak of her father’s death, struggled that first year and Olivia was there for her each step of the way. When Em looked dangerously close to crying, Liv would make an excuse for the girls to disappear into the bathroom, offering the girl privacy to mourn away from the prying eyes of their classmates. Olivia became like a protector of her friend that first year, whipping out her wand at the first sign of trouble, hexing anyone who dared to say anything about her or her friend. If Emilia fell down, Liv was there to help her back on her feet. And it went both ways.
Emilia wasn’t the only friend that Olivia made. There was another girl in her class named Roxanne Darling. The girl was about as quiet as Em was when they first met, and Gods was she clever. The pair got along, spoke to each other in passing or during class, but never became close. Then there was Julian Blackthorn, a Slytherin boy in her year. They were the people she considered friends.Their second year brought Quidditch into their lives and both Olivia and Emilia were enthralled with the sport. The two, both excellent flyers, joined the house team as Chasers. Their bond grew stronger the more they played together and soon they became a fearsome team on the pitch.
Boys didn’t come into the picture until their third year. Puberty had struck them both that summer and they came back to Hogwarts as teenagers. Boys started to pay attention to them more and one boy in particular caught the eye of Emilia. Ziggy Macquiod, the handsome and talented Slytherin and member of the popular boy band, BTS. Olivia thought that Em and Ziggy would become official, but after roughly a week, she grew bored of the boy and ditched him. Olivia began to crush on her friend, Julian, but was far too shy to act on those feelings. Other boys chased after her, but she had no interest in them. While Emilia dated off and on, relationships never lasting more than a month, Olivia stayed single. One boy, a beater on the Quidditch team, seemed persistent in flirting with Olivia. Though she never entertained the idea for very long, he continued to come back for her. He was too young, she’d say. Too lanky. Too overeager.
Fourth year rolled around and she was still crushing on Julian Blackthorn. The two grew closer over the first few months of classes, pairing together for projects and sitting beside each other during classes. It was that Halloween they admitted their feelings and started to date. Julian was kind, gentle, and gentlemanly, but Liv felt like something was missing. She didn’t feel that spark she’s read about whenever she kissed him. It seemed that Julian felt the same way, cause less than a month into their relationship, they decided they were better off as friends. The breakup was mutual and cordial enough that the two did in fact remain friends. It was like their relationship had never happened and they were back to chatting about Potions in the common room. After that, Olivia decided she wouldn’t settle for anyone unless she felt that feeling she was chasing. So, she’d entertain the boys that chased her, never more than a kiss, before leaving them in the dust. Lead them on, but never stay. Fourteen also brought parties into Olivia’s life. She and Emilia would be seen at every party at Hogwarts. That year brought a lot of firsts; first boyfriend, first kiss, first sip of alcohol.
Fifth year was great for Olivia and Emilia. The two girls were on top of the world – popular, talented, and admired. Olivia was on her way to becoming Captain of the Quidditch team and she and Emilia were closer than ever. At this point, she was no longer a friend but a sister to the girl. They dated, they gossiped, they played Quidditch and did what every other popular witch does at Hogwarts. Classes were going well for them. Life was good.
TW: VIOLENCE, GORE
That all changed come April. It was a warm spring evening when Olivia grabbed her broom and headed out to the Forbidden Forest for a little practice. She’d been coming out here from time to time, zooming through the trees, honing her reflexes. Mounting her broom, she kicked off and flew high into the trees. For roughly twenty minutes she was out there, zipping and dashing through the trees, avoiding branches and tree trunks. It helped her stay focused on the pitch, react faster. She was getting ready to touchdown when it happened. One moment Olivia was lowering her broom and the next she was knocked off, flying through the air. She landed hard on the exposed roots of a nearby tree, her ribs cracking with the impact. She didn’t even have a moment to cry out when the excruciating pain of teeth piercing flesh exploded on her side. A blood-curdling scream flowed out of her as this huge beast tore into her. She was going to die, she just knew it. She’d be eaten alive out in the forest alone and terrified.
Hagrid must have heard her screams because moments later, she heard the faint sound of a dog barking. The beast released her and stood up. In the light of the moon shining through the leaves, she could see the beast’s form. Dread welled up inside her as she recognized the creature. A werewolf. The wolf let out a bone-chilling howl before turning and disappearing in the woods. Hagrid rushed to Liv’s side. Pain erupted throughout her body as Hagrid lifted her and she sobbed into his big, smelly coat. She’d been bitten by a werewolf. There was no coming back from that.
He took her directly to the Hospital Wing. Madame Pomfrey set to work as soon as she hit the bed, covering the wound with silver and dittany. The physical pain was a distraction from the deep emotional pain she was feeling. Part of her wanted to tell the Healer to stop, to just let her die here and now, because she couldn’t imagine becoming a werewolf. She was only fifteen for Gods’ sake. Her parents were notified and they arrived shortly. Liv still remembers the horror and disgust on their faces as they walked through those doors. It was at that moment Olivia realized her parents would never look at her the same again. Michael was escorted from his dormitory, but it hardly mattered; the two were never close. They visited in silence, none in the family speaking, before Madame Pomfrey dismissed them, stating she needed rest.
Olivia was in the hospital for a week. The “official” story was that she was injured during Quidditch practice. Not a complete lie, but still. Emilia visited her as often as the Healer would allow. Since the circumstances were a secret, she had to be alone during dressing changes. All her friends came to see her, but she could hardly manage a smile when they did. None of them could ever know… she’s a werewolf now. Before her parents left, the Headmistress and Madame Pomfrey informed them of precautions they now must take. Olivia is to study under Professor Baines to learn the Wolfsbane potion. Her family will ensure she is taking the potion during the summer and holiday breaks. They discussed the changes they’d be most likely to see in the girl. Olivia could hardly listen to it without tearing up. The school would set up a place for her to transform each month and the Moretti’s promised to do the same.
That summer, the Moretti Mansion was filled with emptiness and silence. Her father, determined to change his little girl back to the pureblooded witch she was, poured himself into research to find a cure. Even when it was clear there was none to be found, he kept trying. Her mother was reserved, wouldn’t look her in the eye. Maybe it was to make themselves feel better, but her parents showered her with expensive gifts. All the clothes she wanted, all the shoes, the jewelry, a new golden cauldron, brand new Quidditch equipment - you name it. Despite the gifts, Liv could feel they didn’t love her anymore. The gifts felt like empty promises, all except one. The first gift she received was from her father. It was a customized Quinn broom, a Star Dust, with rich black walnut wood, ivory veining and sleek bristles. Her father had the emblem of a wolf etched into the handle, making this gift particularly special. It was like he was saying he accepts her, only his actions proved otherwise.
Her first transformation was more than excruciating. Words couldn’t really describe it, not really. It was as if she was experiencing every horrible pain in the world simultaneously. It felt like it took an eternity for her body to break and reassemble itself into the form of a wolf. When the transformation was complete, she knew that the Wolfsbane potion worked. She could think for herself. After the agony of the transformation, she felt exhausted. The wolfish form of Olivia Moretti curled up in a ball on the floor of the dungeon her parents had provided, and slept the night away.
The second transformation was equally as painful. She thought she’d never get used to this. Before the full moon she’d look like a zombie and feel like one, too. The same went with after the night was over. Two weeks of feeling like shit combined with the worst pain imaginable happening twice in one night. She felt hopeless and helpless. When the letter arrived announcing she was returning to Hogwarts as Quidditch Captian, she felt nothing but dread. How long would she be able to keep this a secret? She had to, if she wanted a fulfilling life. Life had just gotten real and a lot scarier for the girl. And she wasn’t sure what she should do.

LUNA Luna is a white and gray Maine coon that Riccardo and Amara purchased for Olivia her first year at Hogwarts. As a kitten, Luna was playful and affectionate, adoring Liv more than anyone else. The cat is also partial to Emilia Montes. As Liv and Luna grew up together, their bond became closer and closer until they were hardly ever apart. After Olivia's transformation, Luna would keep Liv company during the full moons, cuddling against her wolfish form as they slept through the night.

LEOPOLD WILLIAMS & OLIVIA MORETTI"My only and only love, I've been lonely long enough. Will I find you when the night is over?" Heat rushed to her face as Leo placed a hand on her hip to steady her and she felt a shiver run up her spine at the contact. Liv found that she didn’t want him to let go. Her body tingled with energy, whether it was the promise of a full moon or a good night was unknown to the Slytherin. Part of her knew she should probably keep her distance from Leo if she didn’t want rumors to revolve around the pair of them… But it felt so good to have him lead her to the dance floor that she suddenly didn’t care about that anymore.
As they danced to the loud music, Liv felt her worries start to dissipate. There was no full moon, no studies, no Quidditch, just Leo’s arms around her as he pulled her closer to him. Liv let out a small ‘oh’ in surprise before slinking her arms behind his neck, moving in sync with his body.

I don't want to know who we are without each other It's just too hard I don't want to leave here without you I don't want to lose part of me Will I recover? That broken piece, let it go and unleash all the feelings
Did we ever see it coming? Will we ever let it go?
We are buried in broken dreams We are knee-deep without a plea I don't want to know what it's like to live without you Don't want to know the other side of a world without you
Is it fair, or is it fate? No one knows The stars choose their lovers, save my soul It hurts just the same And I can't tear myself away
Did we ever see it coming? Will we ever let it go?
We are buried in broken dreams We are knee-deep without a plea I don't want to know what it's like to live without you Don't want to know the other side of a world without you
I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know I don't want to know

You were dancing in your tube socks in our hotel room, Flashin' those eyes like highway signs. Light one up and hand it over, rest your head upon my shoulder. Just wanna feel your lips against my skin.
White sheets, bright lights, crooked teeth, and the night life. You told me this is right where it begins. But your lips hang heavy underneath me. And I promised myself I wouldn't let you complete me.
I'm tryin' not to let it show, that I don't wanna let this go. Is there somewhere you can meet me? 'Cause I clutched your arms like stairway railings. And you clutched my brain and eased my ailing.
You're writing lines about me; romantic poetry. Your girl's got red in her cheeks, 'cause we're somethin' she can't see. And I try to refrain, but you're stuck in my brain. And all I do is cry and complain because second's not the same.
I'm sorry, but I fell in love tonight. I didn't mean to fall in love tonight. You're looking like you fell in love tonight. Could we pretend that we're in love?
