Ever since their game against Ravenclaw, Ethan has been putting in extra practice. He felt frustrated that they were bested, even if they won the game in the end. If Carter hadn’t caught the snitch, they’d have been destroyed. Their Captain assured them they played a good game, but Ethan wasn’t convinced. Bo and Oliver weren’t showing the best teamwork, and while he was annoyed about it, he was more concerned with his own game. Georgia and Layla were tough competition, yes, but if he had spent more time practicing instead of sneaking away with Cera, they might have done better. He really only had himself to blame. Cera didn’t seem thrilled when he slipped her a note saying he was heading to the pitch after class, but he really needed to practice more before break. He’d spend Christmas with his family and that didn’t really leave a whole lot of room for Quidditch.[break][break]
So, there he was running drills by himself on the pitch. He didn’t let loose the bludgers just in case one went soaring toward the castle, he just flew hard and fast, making shot after shot. It was easy to do by yourself, but the challenge came with other players. After about twenty minutes or so, Ethan caught the Quaffle once again and decided to head to ground for a break. He landed gracefully by the entrance to the pitch and set down his broom on the turf, reaching into his bag for his water bottle. He was covered in sweat from all the exertion, so the cold breeze felt good as it whipped by him, tipping his water bottle to chug. He didn’t expect anyone else to come down here, though he may have wished someone would. Training by yourself wasn’t as rewarding as doing it with someone else. But who would come down here to fly in this weather and so close to Christmas break?
