it wasn’t very often that she found herself coming to slug & jiggers for supplies. she ran her own apothecary out of her home, but staying on the grounds had left her needing a few simple ingredients, and juniper hadn’t much time. she always felt nostalgic walking through the village in a way that she could almost see her friends, hear their giggles and taunts, and feel the joys of youth. alas, juniper was always brought back to reality at the jingle of the shoppes bells. her sharp hazel gaze fell on the clerk whose brow raised in her direction. shrugging it off and heading straight to business, the woman grabbed a small whicker basket nearby the door, pulling leaves and small jars from shelves without asking for assistance. june could hear the shopkeeper chortling in amusement, a grin playing on her own lips to return the sentiment.
through her picking, she spotted the dragons liver housed a few shelves over from where she’d been, on her tip toes. “there you are!” she exclaimed, hand reaching toward it. juniper hadn’t notice the other person, and her hand brushed against theres, causing her to recoil it back. a quiet ‘oops’ hung on her lips, but she collected herself and fell back gently to flatten her feet. it wasn’t surprising that she missed an entire person. “sorry ‘bout that. i almost lose my head when i’m diving ‘round all this stuff,” juniper confessed, hoping they understood. “looks like you’ve got your hands full, yourself, yeah? whatcha got?” curiosity always, always got the best of her, didn’t it? she tried to not lose her manners completely, but the woman near her seemed familiar; was she a student? juniper knew her face well enough to know they had crossed paths at some point, now was better time as any to make an introduction.

Most of the time, in her line of work, Cara needed to brew a potion or two. She kept her stores stocked so she could easily summon the ingredients she needed when she needed them. She brewed potions in advance as well, ones she used regularly or took a long time to brew. With the rise in attacks, Cara was often floating down to Creature Induced Injuries to help out. She was running out of ingredients quickly with all the Wolfsbane potions she’d been handing out. So, on her next day off, she made a trip to Slug & Jiggers to stock back up. The shopkeep greeted her as she entered and Cara offered him a small smile before picking up a basket and moving to the shelves. With a sigh, she started filling her basket with ingredients.[break][break]
Her basket was starting to get a bit heavy on her arm as she continued to add to it. She had just grabbed a bunch of wolfsbane when she spotted the dragons liver. Cara noticed the other witch that had come in, but she didn’t pay her any mind as she moved to grab a liver. Her hand was outstretched, Cara reaching on her tiptoes to grab it, when her hand touched the other witch’s hand. Cara retracted her hand immediately and fell back on her heels, heat rushing to her cheeks in her embarrassment. The witch was apologizing and she just shook her head. “No, no it’s my fault,” she said quickly, but then she was asking what she had and Cara looked at her with her brow furrowed in confusion. She looked vaguely familiar, but she couldn’t place where she’d seen her before. “A lot of stuff,” she said, letting out a short laugh. “Mainly ingredients I need for work. I’m Cara, by the way.” She held out her hand. “I admit you look familiar, but I don’t think I know you.”

| | juniper listened intently as the other explained her clutter of ingredients, nodding her head. she couldn't help but shudder her own laugh, glancing toward the dragons liver they'd both been reaching for. "same here, actually. ended up short handing myself when i left home. 'tis the season, right?" she rolled her eyes at herself. "nice t'meet you, cara. i'm juniper, resident crazy creature lady!" with that, she gave a faux curtsey. she ticked her head to the side, grateful that she wasn't the only one who felt that way. "i help run the sanctuary at hogwarts, and i dabble in potions & brews on the side. i think i've seen you 'round, too," she confirmed. juniper reached up, taking the dragons liver and shuffling just close enough to the other to plop it in her basket.
"st. mungo's, right?" it had taken less than a second for her to realize exactly where she'd seen this woman; they'd passed by each other more than a few times on her way through. juniper could recall a plethora of times she'd almost stopped her to ask questions, or prod her brain when she'd said something absolutely brilliant. june's smile only grew from there, though the excitement was short lived. embarrassment hit her like a train, and she settled back into herself quicky. "i've seen you handle your shit over there, yeah? have you ever considered freelancing it? those guys don't know a good witch when they see one." it wasn't unlike her to be so forthcoming, and the question was genuine.

Cara let out a soft laugh and shook her head as the other witch spoke, knowing exactly what she meant. The holidays were always busy; with life, with work, with pretty much everything. It was easy to be forgetful when there was so much going on. Her brow raised slightly at her introduction, another chuckle escaping her at the curtsey. Juniper was interesting. Fun, too, which a young witch ought to be. The blonde listened to her as she told her what she did, her head bobbing as the recognition started to make some sense. The Hogwarts sanctuary wasn’t a place she frequented at school, but they did go there to study beasts for class. Perhaps she’s seen Juniper in passing there. A soft ‘oh’ hung on her lips as the witch dropped some dragon liver in her basket. “Thank you,” she offered graciously, smiling up at her. [break][break]
“Yes, St. Mungo’s,” she confirmed, holding her basket with both hands as her arm was starting to hurt. That must be where she knows her from. Cara often floated to different floors to help out so she’s seen hundreds of patients in her time there. A gentle blush spread along her cheekbones at the compliment, Cara feeling a bit bashful. She supposed she did handle her shit pretty well, but she was still relatively new to it, only graduating this past summer. Juniper surprised her when she mentioned freelancing, her head tilting just slightly as she considered it. What would a freelanced Healer even do? “Do you mean, setting up my own clinic?” she asked, her head quickly shaking back and forth. “Oh, no. I’m far too inexperienced to do something like that. I wouldn’t even know where to begin and - ” she trailed off, recognizing that she was about to run away with her words. It was a bad habit of hers to get loose lips when she was nervous. “I’m happy at St. Mungo’s,” she told her with a kind smile. “I can help a wide variety of people with all different kinds of ailments. It’s truly rewarding, like I’d imagine your work is with creatures.”
