RIPLEY CASH WINSTEAD
This is RIPLEY WINSTEAD who is an AUROR.
They are 37 years old, and look a bit like SEBASTIAN STAN.
Played by CAR.
Rip Winstead is the firstborn son of Frank and Amy Winstead - a pureblooded wizard and half-blood witch. Born and raised in Broken Bow, Oklahoma, he grew up with strong principles. He had the southern hospitality and manners that come with growing up in a small town. From a young age, he cleaved to his mother and father and did what he could to help them on the farm. At first, he was given small, easy tasks such as collecting eggs and feeding the horses. But as he grew older and stronger, he started to take a more active role in the homestead where they lived. He’d help his mother with the garden, help his dad with the animals, and do all the grunt work they needed. It was okay, he really enjoyed the work he did. He loved the horses the most, often riding them when his work was done.
He was about five years old when his mother gave birth to his sister, Jessica Winstead. Rip took his role as big brother seriously and vowed to be the best role model he could be. It wasn’t that hard for him. He wasn’t an emotional kid and very adaptable. When he wasn’t helping out on the farm, he was helping with his baby sister. He loved her dearly, especially when she got big enough to play with him. A few years after she was born, Amy gave birth to another boy. Joshua. A big brother once again, he started to toughen up more. He didn’t want to let them down.
When he was old enough, he received his letter from Ilvermorny. His parents were very excited for him, taking him to the city to shop for his things. While he was happy to be going to school, he was a little sad he was going to miss out on working at the farm full-time. It was hard, but rewarding work. He liked to get his hands dirty. But, he’d be learning to hone his magic and that was a whole new adventure.
The day came and he stood on Gordian Knot, feeling nervous for the first time since his letter. He was sorted into Wampus and was greeted with cheering from his housemates. The Wampus is said to represent the body of a witch or wizard, favoring warriors above all. Rip didn’t see how he was warrior material, humble as he is, but his classmates made him feel welcome anyway. Then came his wand - Aspen, Thunderbird feather, 13 inches, and very sturdy. His wand was a little pretty for his liking; he expected something rougher. The next day classes came and it was apparent that he had an aptitude for dueling magic. He could perform strong and steady shield charms and his wand was quick to shoot a hex or two before his opponent had a chance to throw one at him. It was clear that he was intelligent, making top marks in almost all his classes. He absorbed information like a sponge with a memory like a steel cage. While he was talented at Charms and DADA, he had to work to improve his skills with Transfiguration and Herbology. He was a hard worker, though, so this didn’t bother him. Quidditch was something that appealed to him in school. He played Keeper from his second year to graduation, but it wasn’t something he wanted to pursue professionally.
Rip fell in love his sixth year. Her name was Jenn and she was a Pukwudgie. They had known each other since their first year, but it wasn’t until they were paired for Potions that they really started talking. She was from the big city - Manhattan - and she was so much more interesting than he was. He took an instant liking to her and after that class they spent more and more time together. She was into art, music, and dancing. All things he’d never even considered before. Jenn would show him her paintings and taught him a little of the piano. He was enamored with her and it wasn’t long before they started dating.
Graduation came and went and Rip had the scores to do whatever he wanted, but all he cared about was staying home to work on the farm. His parents were a little disappointed he didn’t go out into the world and make his own life, but they were thankful for his help. Family meant something to him and he wasn’t going to abandon them. Jenn took a big girl job at the MACUSA, but she still made time to see him. Life was good. He’d get up early in the morning, make breakfast and coffee, then get to work cleaning out the stables. It was a nice, stable routine that he thoroughly enjoyed.
Tragedy struck a few years later. A band of vigilantes started to cause havoc in the USA, intent on their own version of justice. The number of attacks were growing and getting more and more public. Jenn was part of the force trying to stop them. One day, she was investigating a recent attack when the vigilantes attacked again. She was caught in the crossfire, dying to a viciously cast Blasting Curse. Rip’s whole world collapsed. The witch he loved was killed senselessly. He was angry, he was grieving, he set out for vengeance. Rip hunted these vigilantes down and dealt some of his own justice to them. When he was caught, MACUSA, recognizing that he helped stop those causing so much chaos, told him he was to leave the country and never come back. He could avoid a record and imprisonment, if he just left everything behind.
His mother cried for days while he packed, his father doing his best to comfort her. Jessica was getting ready to graduate from Ilvermorny and he wouldn’t be here to see it. Josh and her were still at school so he didn’t even get to say goodbye before he was forced to leave. Rip took himself to England, settling in Bourton-on-the-Water in the south. It was a small town like he was used to and near the water. He took a job at the local Ministry as an Auror, his scores from Ilvermorny easily getting him into the program. He was going to make sure nothing like this happened again.
It’s been many years now since he made England his home. He’s a senior Auror now with a decent home and savings. He’s not sure what he’s looking for in life, but he’s content with where he’s at.
Hi there!
