Being the new kid was kind of really annoying. Everyone wanted to know about you, but no one wanted to ask directly. Not that Zelda would be keen to divulge anything about herself. She walked through the castle with a scowl on her face, her displeasure at being here quite evident on her features. Her parents told her she should try. Just look at Elsa, already making all these new friends. Elsa didn’t have friends before, Zelda did. She couldn’t pretend like these new witches and wizards understood her at all. Everything had been fine at Durmstrang. If only her father didn’t screw up with the Ministry. Just another thing for her to be mad about. [break][break]
She did try to enjoy herself at least. As soon as she could, she tried out for the Quidditch team and signed up for the Dueling Club. Hogwarts didn’t have martial arts like Durmstrang did, but she could deal with only having the other two. Most evenings she’d either go to the pitch or the dungeons to hone her skills. It was the only time she felt like herself again. [break][break]
Tonight she was sitting in the common room, watching as her housemates played games or studied, a frown pulling at her lips. She had no interest in doing either of those activities and didn’t think she had a right to approach anyone. That was fine with her, she preferred being alone. She was bored, though. After watching the third game of exploding snap, Zelda sighed and stood up, slinking out of the common room. No one tried to stop her. No one probably even noticed. Her feet carried her further into the dungeons, coming to the empty dungeon where the Dueling Club practiced. She threw off her robes and flung them unceremoniously into the corner, unsheathing her wand and stepping up toward the dummies. Zelda got into her dueling stance, her feet spreading apart, knees bent, and started throwing spells at the dummies. She slashed and hit the dummies in quick succession, her mind completely focused on what she was doing. She was so focused, she hadn’t realized someone else had came in. Zelda paused for a moment, examining the damage she had done. Before she could raise her wand again, a flash of red came flying past her head and hit a dummy directly on the head, knocking it clean off. “What the hell?” she whipped around to stare at whoever lobbed that spell past her. “You almost hit me!”
