Crane - Lenna's happiest memory came right after the worst day of her life. Just after her brother passed away, she took to the woods not far from her home. It felt like the world was coming down around her, but she couldn't help but notice the birds chattering above and the long-legged birds at the pond nearby. The cranes were just outside the long-forgotten hideout where she and her brothers would spend most of their summer days. Lenna followed the birds and sat in the old hideout, relieving childhood memories and lifting the weight of her brother's death.

Her brother, covered in dragon pox and moving his mouth to speak to her but no words ever come out.

HISTORY:
Lenna is the second child to a barely off family. Her muggle father and pure-blooded mother did everything they could to help their children, but a nearly rundown muggle's bookstore could not completely support the young family. For a while, Lenna's family had joined back up with Lucille's parents. It had been a rough start, with Lenna only being two years old and already hostility was brewing in the home. Her grandparents certainly were not happy with the marriage and arguments quickly ensued. Once Lucille found out that she was pregnant with a third child, she decided it was enough relying on her parents and time to work on their own home again. While the several months of pregnancy were difficult, trying to scrape for change, once Cassian was born, she went back to work as a healer.
Home life was still up and down after they had moved away and added to the family. Aedon and Lenna had built up their friendship, and often tormented their parents if they weren't turned loose for a while. Once their parents had grown confident in the duo's ability to not completely destroy themselves, they were left to their own imaginations, with only the necessary supervision. Both children took to the woods outside their home, and more often than not were out there, building their own getaway. Bird watching, playing make believe and even the accidental magic spells had taken up most of their time and imaginations.
Normal school days became hard on the siblings, even for young Cassian. Pure-bloods often mocked them for their muggle-blood, particularly Lenna since she did little to defend herself. The fun filled days in the forest hideaway had turned into a reprieve from the terrors of growing up outcasts. The three siblings grew close over the years, up to the point where they were inseparable.
As they reached their double digits, each child got the much-anticipated letter and were sorted into their respective houses. The elder two unsurprisingly were sorted into their mother's house, Ravenclaw, but the surprise came from Cassian, who was sorted into Gryffindor. Despite the different houses, the trio managed to cause just enough trouble to entertain, and not enough to be so punished as to disappoint their mother.
The years at Hogwarts passed in a blur. Lenna was instantly drawn into herbology, easily her best class, and her brains made her one of the smartest students in Ravenclaw. Her fourth year was the most defining year for her and left her the most independent she had ever been. Lenna began spending her time studying herbology, or shadowing in the hospital wing, with some insistence from her professors. Her passion grew for the art of medicine and magic, slowly taking over much of her social life.
While spending time in the hospital wing during her fifth year, Lenna began to fall in love. Boys and girls from the quidditch teams were often in and out, needing attending for various sporty ailments. Her favorite patient just happened to be the Ravenclaw keeper though, a tall, broad boy in his sixth year.
Her life felt like it couldn't be going any better as she reached her sixth year. Lenna continued to master her medicinal craft, having found the perfect calling, love blossomed with her and the team captain, and every year her family was growing closer. The pain though, returned between her sixth and seventh year. After Aedon had graduated Hogwarts and decided to travel the world, he had fallen ill. While back home to treat his illness at St. Mungo's, Aedon's condition had begun to worsen. Lenna painstakingly watched her brother lose his ability to speak, and his handsome skin purpled and blackened. While they had held hope for him to recover, like their mother had seen before, Aedon simply was not improving. It took months for him to fully deteriorate, causing Lenna's heart to break as they exhausted every cure imaginable. Finally, just weeks before Lenna was expected to return to Hogwarts, her older brother had finally passed away.
Lenna's life felt like it had been drained from her and sadness had its fingers around her throat. To clear her mind and relieve some of the ache, Lenna went into the woods and let the song of the birds carry her to the old hideout. There she saw cranes, hunting in the pond just outside their old hideout. In that moment, Lenna noticed the sting of never being the same, but the tears that followed were from the joyous memories she shared in the woods. She sat there for hours, reminiscing in dusty fort.
The return to school the following weeks had been painful, with the questions and condolences. Lenna had lost what she thought was the love of her life, being unable to focus on her relationship with her family hurting. Before her brother's death, Lenna had been unable to conjure a Patronus, despite giving all the effort she could. Yet when tested again in her sixth year, she made a crane appear.
After that, her heart and mind began to piece themselves together. Lenna gradually brought her mind back to school and returned to the hospital wing. Graduation felt like it could not come fast enough, and the moment it did, she pounced at the chance to practice medicine and magic.
Right out of Hogwarts, by the time Lenna had turned eighteen, she had the grades and credentials to start at St. Mungo's. Rather than take the route her brother did, there was no hesitation in her mind. Medicine in St. Mungo's came quickly and easily to Lenna. Her gifts had made her one of the more reliable healers, yet when those who were too far gone for her, Lenna's talent wavered. She began taking each one more to heart and found that the lows of the job weighed far too heavily on her compared to the highs. After a near ten years, Lenna felt herself succumbing to compassion fatigue. At twenty-nine, a return to Hogwarts seemed to be the best way for her to continue sharing her talents. This lovely character is being played by Ashby! "Being on the grounds of Hogwarts again was surreal for Lenna. The last time she had been there, bolting for St. Mungo's was all that was on her mind. The thought of return to become a teacher had keep her up for several nights with excitement however. She had nearly been ready to start teaching a week before scheduled and had grown impatient while waiting.
The truest concern she had was that Lenna wasn't entirely sure just how hard it would be to be in the castle without her brothers again. She had stuck to the usual methods of coping, with novels, trips to the owlery and often going outside at night to watch the stars. She had been relatively quiet for the last few days, but began to open up as her class began. Lenna couldn't help but feel a twinge of the same giddiness the first year and returning students felt.
Developing a teaching style had come relatively easy for Lenna. She was able to determine, fairly quickly, that most of the students in her class actually wanted to learn Medicinal Magic, so she simply taught how she would have preferred to be taught, barring the necessities she had to include in her lesson plans.
With many requirements for her lesson plan came constant revision and adaption. Lenna had been proactive enough to have nearly her whole year planned out already and had decided to take the day to double check her work. The problem, ultimately, had been her great beast, Bellamy. The poor tiger cat had exhausted all efforts in getting his mother to let him explore so he decided to lay on her papers. "Fine, you little monster," Lenna smiled and pressed a kiss to his wet nose. "We'll go out for a bit."
The myths of the teacher's lounge had been particularly popular in the years she was in school. Lenna fondly remembered her younger brother plotting to sneak in, and Aedon helping him perfect the plan, despite her protesting. Cass never made it into the lounge, but Lenna supposed she could let her companion roam while she got to work.
Lenna slinked through the halls, tutting at Bellamy whenever he got distracted by the slightest noise. As if he could read her mind, the cat ran up to the door and chirped impatiently.
Her eyebrows quirked up slightly when she pushed open the doors, surely not expecting to see the Deputy Headmaster. Lenna had made sure to learn her superiors. Whether it was by face or paper, she learned them all the same, and she surely remembered him. "Deputy Headmaster." Lenna smiled softly as she placed her papers on a small barren corner of the table. Bellamy jumped up in a chair, wise enough to avoid all of the work. Lenna slicked down the faint puff in the cat's tail with a quick flick of her wrist. "Very much, yes. I certainly can't say I mind the chance to do a few things my way," Lenna said in a light tone, leaning against the table. "And you? Busy already, I'm sure." She threw a glance at the significantly larger amount of paperwork."
