HISTORY:
Rylie was born the youngest of 10 siblings, on 19th of November. Growing up in such a large family was certainly a challenge in a lot of ways. There really never felt like there was enough attention to go around. Though Ry loved her parents dearly, they were, of course, incredibly busy. She looked up to Keeva, and was closest to Keara due to their closeness in age. Her older sister Deirdre died in an accidental drowning when she was only one, so she really doesn't remember her at all. Of course, she heard stories about her and there were plenty of pictures around the house, but she really has no memories of Deirdre herself. Thus, for the first few years that she does have memory of, Fee and Pippa were hardly around and very withdrawn, and her older siblings and parents had a very sad energy. Understandably so looking back, but she just couldn't quite grasp it at such a young age. Not only that, but it was hard to be close to her older siblings due to the fact that they were away at Hogwarts for such long periods of time when she was so young.
Ry’s first instance of accidental magic happened in September before she turned 5. She was frustrated because Keara had stolen her stickers, and hid them from her. She tried to tell her mum about it, but Nikki just told Keara to give them back, and Keara told her she lost them. Eryn screamed, her little fists in balls of anger, and all of the kitchen cabinets flew open. Her mum was so excited that she didn't even get angry at her, and they went out for ice cream immediately after.
When Ry was seven, she started learning how to play piano. It was the first musical instrument that she touched, and she couldn't get enough. She began signing, writing songs, and playing nonstop. That year for Christmas, her father got her a classical guitar. She still has love for the piano, as it was the first instrument that she ever played, but her heart is with her guitar.
One of Ry's favorite things growing up was tending to their garden outside, and learning about the different herbs that her father would talk about being helpful for healing. She loved growing things, and learning about plants and how to take care of them.
Year after year, Eryn had to watch another one of her older siblings join Hogwarts. She was just itching to go. They would come back for their breaks with wonderful stories about exciting classes, and her heart would just be filled to the brim with jealousy and excitement. It was hard when Seth went to school, and even harder when Keara went. She cried the whole day when Keara left.
The train ride to Hogwarts was an anxious one for Ry - she sat with Keara, and she was practically bouncing up and down in her seat, just eager to get in and get sorted. She didn't even care what house she was in(okay, she cared a little), she was just excited to be in school. Finally! It felt like it had taken forever. The boat ride she sat with some first years, obviously, like herself. It was the first time in her life when she felt really awkward. It was easy to be social with her family, and she had a very large one - but she honestly hadn't been around many people who weren't related to her somehow. It was certainly an adjustment for her first year, but she was able to open up more as the year went on, and make a few close friends. She fell in love with her Potions and Herbology classes.
Her second year she got a lot of questions on whether or not she was going to try out for the Quidditch team - with so many of her older siblings loving it. It wasn't like Ry didn't like Quidditch, she really did. But she wanted her focus to be on learning. Quidditch was more of a side hobby to play family games. She had very little interest in the team. Other than that mild pressure from her older siblings, Rylie dove deeper into her classes, and was already looking ahead to what she would be choosing for her third year electives.
Ry ended up choosing Care of Magical Creatures, Divination and Arithmancy as her elective courses, and she almost immediately regretted the choice to start Arithmancy, as she found it to be incredibly dull. Care of Magical Creatures became her third favorite class. That year for Christmas, her dad got her a Ukulele, and she started learning how to play that with enthusiasm.
As she’s gotten older, she started getting really into reading muggle romance and horror novels, due to one of her muggleborn roommates. Ry has started looking at what OWLs would get her in what direction in her life. Of course, she's still weighing options, and she knows she has a lot of time to decide still. This lovely character is being played by Aly! Aly has been roleplaying for a lot of years, and play Felicity McMahon on this site. Aly lives in the eastern time zone, and you can reach them by Pm, discord
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Ever since their Charms class, Ry had been stressed on behalf of Hayden for the impending NEWTs. He, on the other hand, seemed on the whole unconcerned about the entire situation. Her study guides had never been as pretty as Keara’s - in fact, when she was younger, her older sister would make her study guides. The handwriting would always be impeccable, they would always be color coded, and there was never any irrelevant information in them. Now, Ry made her own, which weren’t nearly as neat and pretty but were just as effective.
She hoped that Hayden found them to be effective, because she had made one for him for the classes they were in together, which were minimal. Ry was almost convinced that Hayden was only taking Charms and Potions, and she wasn’t entirely sure how that was even possible.
She had felt nervous when sending him an owl asking to meet her in the Under Lake Viewing Room after dinner that night. They had kissed, then went to the dance together, and now… well, she wasn’t sure what was going to happen with them. Still, she was pretty proud of the study guide she had put together for him, and was more than willing to study with him for her own exams. The end of the year was fast approaching, after all.
When she got there, he was already there, and Ry smiled brightly at him. She sat next to him on the couch, curling her legs under her so she was facing entirely toward him. Her knees brushed his thighs, and she tried to not think about the fact that every time they touched, even if it was unintentional, her heart started racing. “Look what I’ve brought for you.” she said, obviously very proud of herself.
She pulled out a binder, filled with easily digestible notes in her best handwriting, and placed it on his lap, then looked from it to him expectantly.
