HISTORY: Roxanne was born on what her mother called the fall day to ruin all other days. October the first, and the trees had been changing their colors for days. The temperature was perfect for her to sit outside and relish the sunshine in her sunhat, and it wasn’t until a leaf fell on her pregnant belly in the most glorious marbleized combination of red, orange, yellow, and a small tinge of green that she knew she was in labor. That, and a large baby kick that would have knocked the leaf off if she hadn’t grabbed it first, sealing it in an immortalizing spell to keep it for years, hanging in the most observational position above Roxie’s bed still, to this day.
Roxie relished that story. Her mum was everything she aspired to be in her youth. Dutiful, loyal, honest, and trustworthy. Caring, and so, so beautiful. Being pureblood, Roxie had never been put into school, and being the youngest of Mickey’s children and female, it was almost needless to say she got anything she wanted. Despite this, Roxie grew up kind, honest, and sweet with a tinge of knowing exactly what she wanted. She knew she had to be a bit of everything on a plateful of perfect, just like that leaf.
As far as her siblings, Maggie was the oldest and far too cold. She would be the white labcoat to Roxie’s flower crown. Tommy was next, but he was barely around. When he came back, he always had a trinket of some sort that he would bring for her, and she kept them on a small shelf below the frozen leaf. Her mum said he was a drifter, but Roxie didn’t know what that meant. Dane was the sibling she was closest with, and it made sense with their ages being so near. They were similar, but as they grew it became obvious their goals did not align… where this might cause a rift with some siblings, instead, it made them closer.
The sorting hat had been hesitant at first, feeling out her sweet demeanor and doughy eyes, but she’d been thinking Slytherin the whole time, which was the house her father, Maggie, and Tommy were in. It was honorable, and while she wouldn’t have minded being sorted a Ravenclaw like her brother Dane and mother, she knew that wouldn’t impress as much, and the sorting hat agreed. Slytherin it was.
After years of being pushed into the background and being seen and not heard when it came to the family business, Roxie was getting hardened. The future of the business was falling into Dane’s hands, and he didn’t seem to want anything to do with it, where Rox would have given her left hand to take over. School didn’t much matter at this point. She and Dane had struck a deal -I’ll scratch your back, if you scratched mine.
Roxie didn’t like working in the shadows, but it made her feel better when she got to pull the strings. This lovely character is being played by ella! Ella has been roleplaying probably since like 2003, and play Annika, Charlie, Felicity, Saffron on this site. Ella lives in the central time zone, and you can reach them by pm
ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Roxanne was used to being behind closed doors. Mickey Darling was very careful about not letting his daughter in the loop with the goings-on in his business, despite her incessant requests to sit in on meetings or at least be allowed in his office. Apparently the family business wasn't a woman's game, and her mother had had talks with her about it time and time again. She was okay being on the sidelines, buying nice things for their home and treating their nanny with all the rewards that she could ever want. As Roxie grew, she never really shared that affinity with her mother. She wanted a part in the business. In fact, she wanted the entire thing.
Roxie hated that they just thought of her as the "girl." She was smart- sure, she wasn't in Ravenclaw but that was because she chose to be a Slytherin. The Hat toyed with Ravenclaw, but under Roxie’s distinct preference had agreed. Her father and two of her siblings were in the house... so it made sense that she would be in the house too. The only thing Roxie ever wanted growing up was for them to notice her and realize how much of an asset she was... and now that she was on her way to graduating Hogwarts, she thought maybe they'd let her in on some things. But... that wasn't so much the case.
And that was why, at this very moment, Roxie was waiting outside of her father's office. He was having a meeting with some of his associates, and it was kind of habit for her to do when she wanted something. But this time, she didn't want something from her father. This time she wanted something from one of his associates. Roxie was getting a little impatient waiting for the meeting to end, but by looking at her you wouldn't be able to tell. She was composed, standing just as still as the statues that lined the wall on the hallway that t'd off from the one that led to the exit of their home. Roxie perfected being neither seen nor heard, so this was going to be easy. She plastered on her most adorable, doe-eyed face when she heard the door, ready to snag his sleeve and pull him into the hallway with her.
