HISTORY: To avoid being sent to Azkaban along with all the other Death Eaters, Kiley’s parents fled the UK and assumed new identities. Not wanting to have their only child be miserable with moving every two to three years, they gave full custody to Evander O’Dricoll, Ross’s father. Kiley’s parents asked that Evander lie about what happened to them, but he disagreed and told Kiley the full story of their history when he thought she was old enough (between 6 and 7 yrs old). Kiley didn’t resent her parents for their choices, but she also didn’t consider them family in any manner and has always rejected letters and presents from them. Her grandfather is a blood purist and believes wizards are the only species that can keep the world whole. He took responsibility for teaching her their family magics, but did tell her that her father had added to the family Book of Shadows and he didnt know how to perform that particular spell. While Kiley and her grandfather are exceedingly close, Kiley won’t talk to him about current issues since their opinions differ so much and would result in an ugly fight. This lovely character is being played by Tasha! ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: (Taken from an old thread) An emptiness surrounded her, enveloped her, made her quiet. Her grand manor seemed more empty than usual even with her centuries old furniture, paintings, various knicknacks she has collected over her very long life. What was odd about today was she actually felt how alone she was. She was probably an expert in death as it had followed her everywhere in her journeys. She knew that she lived and everyone else didn’t. That is why she never committed to anyone, most especially a human. Every once in a while she would find a playmate that could keep her company for more than a human life’s span but she liked running solo. And everyone knew it.
This was why it was such a shock that she had married. For one no one thought she was capable of love. For two they knew she valued herself and her ways more than anything else in this universe. But something about Alavair had changed this thought process that had kept her cold heart protected and her brilliant mind focused. Of course she kept her maiden name, afterall this was the most important part of her life. O’Driscoll got her anywhere, anytime, and most likely for no charge. But there were a few social groups that allowed “Mrs. Leah” to slip, but that was a mistake made only once.
And then he died. Murdered, actually. Murdered for no reason other than jealousy. It was a very clean job, not even Kiley herself could pick up a scent of who had done it. All that was left was a note, typed of course.
“No one is allowed to call you theirs.”
3 months had passed since this event. Kiley had him cremated, so that he would be with her always. Before she spread his ashes publicly in the lake in her hometown, she had taken a spoonful and put it in an hourglass necklace that she wore around her neck, hidden from others eyes.
It was custom that a widow wear all black until her grief was over, but Kiley couldn’t have just plain black. She had a whole new wardrobe made of black dresses, skirts, shirts, and pants that also had red with them. She was, afterall, Lady In Red.
One an afternoon the postman came to the door, which he only did when he was instructed to hand deliver something to her. He seemed a little nervous as he hand her the envelope, almost like he was afraid Kiley would be upset. There was no indication of who it was from, which is what made the postman nervous. But that hand writing….
My Dearest Lady,
We have important matters to discuss. Please meet me at the old tavern in town tonight. Wear your lovely red cloak. I’ll pay for the drinks.
Sincerely,
An Old Friend.
She gave the postman a quick look and tried for a polite smile before closing the door slowly. She heard him rush away quickly.
She re read the note once more and pursed her lips. Only a select people knew about her red cloak, and with a list so short she couldn’t possibly guess who would have asked her to wear it. She inhaled the smell of the parchment, but it gave away no clues. Another person who could cover their tracks well against her….
Kiley dressed carefully. She chose a long black dress that had red vines intricately weaving themselves up her slim figure. Her long dark hair was put in a loose braid, letting strands flutter around her porcelain like skin. She wore black heeled knee high boots, slipping a gorgeous dagger in the right boot. She had to go to the back of her closet to get her red cloak, as she hadn’t worn it in a few months.
At the tavern, she took in a breath before opening the door. As she stepped in everyone glanced over at who had entered. She took in everyone’s faces before they quickly turned away, not wanting to be caught staring. A few people shuffled in their chairs nervously. Then her hazel green eyes landed on the one person who hadn’t looked away and her eyebrows rose in surprise. She stood at the door for a moment, not knowing how to take him in.
Kiley walked over to his table, almost like she was preying on a meal. She took him from head to toe before standing right next to him, looking at him with a raised eyebrow and a spark of expectancy.
“An old friend, indeed.” Kiley said in a soft tone so that only he could hear her, her Scottish accent touching her words like clouds.
