Don’t be too long boys! And stay in pairs!
Jay, of course, asking if Luke was coming with him...but this time, Luke had to decline. He needed Bo’s help specifically. Jay, thankfully, didn’t push the matter...and instead shuffled off with Alvin, the two immediately settling into a routine of silly jokes and goofy punchlines. Luke, taking a deep breath, turned instead, towards Bo.
”H-hey Bo? Do you think you could maybe help me pick out a gift?” The boy paused slightly, hangs wringing the strap of his bag nervously before continuing. ”A, erm, gift...for Georgia?”
The Raven watched as his older brother smiled curiously before nodding. Luke knew Bo was great friends with the blonde and he valued his brother’s input. But something about the way Bo was watching Luke as they moved from window to window was...different. It was like he knew something maybe Luke didn't want him to.
Eventually, the boys came to rest in front of a jewelry store. Luke stared up at the big letters in awe.
Pandora.
Curious, he pushed open the door, Bo following on his heels. There was so much. Rings...necklaces...bracelets. But what really caught Luke’s eye, was a line of charm bracelets. He grinned ear to ear...suddenly knowing just what to get the beautiful blonde who had agreed to accompany him to his family’s Christmas dinner.
Walking out with a bracelet and an adorable charm for a baker to get the bracelet started, Luke couldn’t stop smiling.
Good call, Baby Bird...women love jewelry.
Luke looked up at Bo, still smiling like a doof...until he saw what looked like realization set in on Bo’s face. Then the question. Oh, the dreaded question.
Luke...is this more than just a little crush?
The fifteen year old’s face burned probably as bright as Jay’s girlfriend’s quidditch robes as he stuttered. What was he supposed to say? I’ve been in love with your best friend since my first year of school? No way!
”I...erm...we...we’re friends?”
That wasn’t very convincing...
Dang it.
Watching Bo behind a cringe, he waited for the scolding...but it never came. Bo’s face softened and he put his arm around Luke’s shoulders, walking them toward their waiting mother.
”She’s a good egg, Baby Bird...just...ya know...be careful. Your heart is pure.”
Luke was too innocent to even question the statement, instead just smiling up at his brother...blissfully unaware of anything that had happened between his brother and the girl of his dreams.
As their mom smiled and waved, Bo shoved his hands deep into his pockets as Luke bounced up to her...guilt starting to sit heavily on his chest.
