Iola Ingrid Walker
Basics;;
FULL NAME: Iola Ingrid Walker
NICKNAME(S): Her parents used to call her Princess, but she only goes by Iola.
AGE/D.O.B.: 27, 01/04/1985
HOUSE: Slytherin alumn
IDEOLOGY: Iola is indifferent on the goings on of the wizarding world. The only thing she's worried about is keeping her and her family safe from the Death Eaters
JOB: Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor
WAND:Dragon heartstring/Black Walnut/7"/Inflexible-this wand was lost during her duel with Vader
new wand: Aspen/phoenix tail feather/10.5 inches/sturdy
Wand-quality aspen wood is white and fine-grained, and highly prized by all wand-makers for its stylish resemblance to ivory and its usually outstanding charmwork. The proper owner of the aspen wand is often an accomplished duellist, or destined to be so, for the aspen wand is one of those particularly suited to martial magic. An infamous and secretive eighteenth-century duelling club, which called itself The Silver Spears, was reputed to admit only those who owned aspen wands. In my experience, aspen wand owners are generally strong-minded and determined, more likely than most to be attracted by quests and new orders; this is a wand for revolutionaries.
PLAYBY: Barbara Palvin
Personality;;
LIKES: Iola enjoys reading, animals-particularly cats, her brothers Annie and Chris, mixing potions, using her Animagus form, flowers, perfume, designer clothes, transfiguration
DISLIKES: feelings-especially the warm fuzzy ones, loud and obnoxious people, catty girls, feeling unimportant, Death Eaters (after her adoptive father was murdered)
STRENGTHS: Iola is an Animagus (unregistered) and particularly skilled at potions. She's also a guarded person, which she considers a strength. She's gifted at transfiguration, as well as a number of hexes and offensive spells. She also has an affinity to animals, especially cats - they seem to find her wherever she goes. Soft-hearted and kind.
WEAKNESSES: Over the past eight years, Iola has dealt with a lot of trauma. This has manifested in daily nightmares, paranoia, and a little emotional instability. She's not very good at casting protective charms, but getting better with practice. Iola is more vulnerable than she's ever been. After her duel with Vader, she's been a little broken inside. She can't care for a plant to save her life.
AMORTENTIA: previous- smoke from a fireplace, butterbeer, cold winter air; now - freshwater spring, water lilies, smell of a forest
PATRONUS: Black Panther. she casts a powerful Patronus by thinking of dinners at the Walker's, spending time with Chris, and Annie and that feeling of belonging she had then.
Those with this patronus are more solitary than most other wildcat spirits, preferring the company of nature to the company of people. They are drawn to water above all else, and tend to find serenity within it. They are independently adventurous, venturing into the wilderness and exploring everything for themselves. They express their emotions mostly through this drive and activity.
BOGGART: her loved ones dead at her feet because of her
MIRROR OF ERISED: Smiling, happy with her family all around her.

HISTORY: The Bakke's are a long family of Dark wizards, all of which attended Durmstrang until Christen. Asken Bakke, Iola's grandfather, was in league with Grindelwald during his rein. In 1945, when Dumbledore defeated Grindelwald in the legendary duel, Asken took his family and fled Norway, setting up shop in Wales, England. Christen was forced to transfer to Hogwarts. He was sorted into Slytherin, naturally. This is how he met Karen Davis. Karen and Christen were in the same house, same year. They grew close and eventually married. When the pair of them graduated, Voldemort had just started his reign of terror. The Bakkes decided to join forces with him, becoming Death Eaters. Shortly after Voldemort's downfall, they had a child. This child was Iola. Deciding that their fate should be hers, they fed her their hatred. From a very young age, she learned to protect herself from wizards that wanted to hurt her. They whispered dark things into her ear, giving her nightmares. Day by day, however, she grew stronger. Then, just when she was almost three years old, her parents went searching for their Dark Lord. They were unsuccessful and were charged with life in Azkaban. Iola hasn't heard from them since.
Fortunately for her, Diane Walker had been passing the orphanage in which she was being held. Diane fell in love with the young girl almost immediately and adopted her. The Walkers were a family the Bakkes would hate. Diane Walker was what they called a 'blood traitor'. She was fascinated with Muggles and, in the end, married one. Charles Walker is a decent man with many redeeming qualities. Even though it went against all her training, Iola fell in love with them. Upon Iola's adoption, the Walkers bought her a kitten. It was the most beautiful thing she'd ever laid eyes on and the two bonded within seconds. The kit was named Pandora, after the Greek Titan who opened the pithos and released all of Earth's horrors: disease, hate, etc. etc. The kitten grew so attached to the young girl; Pandora followed her everywhere, slept with her at night.
Iola went from having no siblings, to many. As time went on, more and more Walkers were added to the family tree. Iola's favorite brother is probably Annie. Even though they have their differences, they're both quiet and apathetic. The young girl idolized her older brother Valerian.
Being a Death Eater has been the only thing she's really ever wanted to do, besides working with animals. Seeing as how she strives to get her way, a Death Eater would be the most rewarding job for those loyal enough.
For years, she honed her skills and even became an Animagus during her school years, all to become a Death Eater like Valerian. But he had other ideas for her. After graduating Hogwarts, Valerian blocked every attempt Iola made to join the ranks. It wasn't until 3 monts after graduation that Iola finally became a Death Eater. But she didn't find that sense of belonging she'd thought she'd feel. Then, six months later, a group of Death Eater came out of hiding and tortured and murdered her adoptive father. Enraged and determined to protect her family and avenge her husband, Diane Walker tortured and killed the Death Eaters. This earned her a sentence in Azkaban for use of unforgivable curses. Her mother was released from Azkaban after a few years due to backlash the ministry obtained through the media and landed herself in St. Mungos afterwards. She's been on the run for eight years, an enemy of the DE. She eventually came home to find Annie, who brought her into the Order of the Phoenix and helped her devise a plan to come back to the Wizarding world.
So Iola, still hiding at the Walker estate, started to build a rapport with local aurors both in and out of the Order, hoping to have support when she eventually turned herself into the Wizengamot. One of these Aurors was Nyle Atwell. Nyle and Iola met in the caves just a ways away from Hogsmeade, where they were drawn to each other and entered a passionate affair. He helped her come home and helped keep her hidden as there was a picture of her hanging up in the auror offices.
A few months after coming home, Iola turned herself in and was granted a trial before the Wizengamot. The aurors on her side testified, including Order members like Harry Potter, and she was acquitted of all charges. Now a free witch, she moved in with Nyle and was accepted into a position as Defense Against the Dark Arts professor at Hogwarts. She's proving every day with hard work that her redemption was genuine and that she's a changed woman.This lovely character is being played by car! car has been roleplaying for 17 years, and play Keelin Grady, Peter Woods, Iris Ryan, Maggie Mayfield, Ellie Williams, Jacob Williams on this site. ROLEPLAY SAMPLE: "I mean, she does kind of look like the same woman," remarked Sergeant Reynolds as he and Sergeant Cromwell reviewed the CCTV footage. "Yeah," replied Cromwell sarcastically. "Two old women in the same park in London what a surprise." The cops shook their heads and chuckled simultaneously. The homeless man, who they brought with them just in case, stared disbelievingly at the pair of them, mouth hung wide open enough to were you could see the rotting teeth from too much pixie dust consumption. "But she was right there! It was a copy I tell you! SOMETHING EVIL IS IN THE PARK!" He cried out, arms wildly waving about. Sergeants Reynolds and Cromwell shared a look, kind of like the one Jim from the Office gives the camera all the time, and the tall, peach fuzzed officer pulled out his handcuffs. "Yeah, yeah mate suuure it was," he said as he gestured for the man to turn around. "You're under arrest for assuming things." Cromwell grunted. "Making a false statement," she repeated in clipped tones. Reynolds had the decency to appear sheepish. "Quite right. Yes, you're under arrest for making a false statement." The cops went on to read him the UK version of his Miranda Rights and threw the homeless man in the back of their patrol car. The homeless man slouched in the backseat, disillusioned. Glancing out the window, he saw a black cat meandering around.... like that cat that day. "Hey! HEY!" He cried out, pointed with cuffed hands at the cat. "The cat! It was there that day! It could be an evil cat!" But little did he know, that wasn't the same cat. It was just a coincidence.
Back at the Three Broomsticks, Iola continued to sip on her butterbeer as she watched Bryant dramatically slouch on the bar, swaying slightly and slurring his speech. It took every ounce of willpower to not roll her eyes and cry out "For Merlin's sake Bryant it's just butterbeer!" But, of course, she didn't do that. She wanted to, though. Iola felt a brief flash of irritability at his comment about looking good in her younger years. And maybe a pinch of jealousy. Madam Rosmerta placed another mug of butterbeer in front of it and Bryant gripped it like an alcoholic gripping their first beer in days, nearly downing the mug in one go. Iola tried her best to ignore how he looked while drinking his butterbeer, Adams apple bobbing with each gulp, the scruff of his beard outlining his jaw in a rather attractive way. Stop it, she told herself. All she ever was to him was another Slytherin babe. For so long during their school years, Iola tried to stay away from the ever-persistent Bryant Tannen. But try as she might, he always found a way to pop into her life. Then came the night he obviously gave her a concussion and she cried in front of him... and then kissed him. To this day, Iola still doesn't know what strange force came over her. Part of her was convinced Willy placed a confundus charm on her before gathering his collection of cards and leaving that common room.
That was the night everything changed, for Iola and for Bryant. She had never opened up to anyone before, not even her beloved brothers Annie and Chris, certainly not to Valerian. No, she was too proud for that. But something about Bryant stirred something deep inside her... and it was something she'd been running from since the start. After the fateful kiss, Iola's feelings began to change. She looked at Bryant in a different light, but, as boys will do, he lost interest as soon as he got to her. That had really pissed Iola off. For years, the bumbling idiot hit on her and serenaded her, attempting to woo her. But then as soon as he gets a snog, he bounces. And Iola was left with these... feelings inside her. Feelings she knew she had to expunge if she was to ever join the Death Eaters. But, that was all in the past now. Iola had changed. She no longer wanted the same things she did before. In fact, she wasn't entirely sure she knew what she wanted. All she knew was that she longed for home, for a sense of belonging. Six years on the run had tired her, and she was starting to feel lonely.
For a moment, Iola thought Bryant was going to brush off the topic. It was short-lived, however, as he quickly turned to face her. "I guess y’know, realistically I can’t know that, right? We haven’t seen each other in years. But when we were together…and I mean like, in this place between friends and something more? It’s the closest thing to complete I’ve felt in my life. But she just had issues, y’know? Like stuff she had to deal with on her own, and I just couldn’t save her." She took another sip of her butterbeer to hide the small smile forming on her lips. Whether she was smiling because of pride or because of the fluttering in her chest was unknown to her. Bryant laughed, almost bitterly before taking another generous swig of the very much non-alcoholic butterbeer. "It was her who contacted me too. I mean, I guess I’m just happy she’s okay.”
"You... you are?" For a second, Iola forgot herself such was her surprise. She almost forgot about the Polyjuice potion... The Polyjuice potion! How long had it been since she drank the disgusting potion? She glanced quickly at Bryant, making sure he wasn't looking before pulling a small vial from her hand bag and downing the rest of the potion, managing to control her reaction as the horrid taste exploded on her tongue. "Doesn't seem kind of her, does it? To invite you out then stand you up?" She questioned, hoping to pry more out of the former Gryffindor. "What would you say to her if she was here, now?" Iola knew Bryant couldn't resist to talk about himself, even to some old stranger at a bar. That last bit of polyjuice potion wouldn't last long, maybe twenty more minutes or so. Iola kept her gaze on him, drinking him in while she could like the idiot she was. Part of her didn't want this to end, as foolish as she knew it was.
